ive got the devil on one side and the light on the right,
see, everybodies got 2 sides and both they try to hide,
well me, i just like, to slip in between, hit the horizon with a suitcase full of dreams
conquer me, claim me as your own, stab your flag in me, push me into the unknown, bound my hands together and off the ship i was thrown, where the tides they come alive, yeah i felt so far from home
its dark all around where the sharks they wait below with the utmost hospitality for the tortured soul,
the devils on my shoulder so easy to ignore, at this point both of them are

left foot right foot i lost my way and im trying to make it back to the interstate,
and all the people are cruising by at higher speeds
im walking down the street with a little bit of sticky green w**d in my pockets
ive got that bass in my ear that rumbles down to my feet
and all the people are cruising by and all the people are in such a hurry and all the people are cruisin by and all the people are looking blurry at higher speeds
i leave my sunglasses on because i cant stand these lights,
billboards and buildings shining in my eyes,
and all the people wanna take what i have,
and all the people just wanna backstab,
cause you know everyone
tryin to live im tryna see what lies beyond these mountian peaks,
im tryin to live im tryin to breathe whatever i want for free,
and all the people are cruisin by at high times

tell this to the gambler
throw all his money away
hes got blackholes where his eyes were
shattered by the light of day
while the light passed thru his brain he still had nothing to say
still got nothing to leave with, with his soul gone down the drain
see the money will lead you all the way to your grave
and when the shelter dont stop the rain
the colors will all fade
tell this to the liar tell her one day she will see
all that she percieves aint all what it seems
see every liar is lied to how else would she learn her trade
leaves all her friends behind her
in order to get paid
tell the broken home traveler that peace is found inside
and the treadmarks on the road only increase with time
but dont let that detour you
dont let yourself stray
theres a light at the end of the tunnel thatll make everything okay

the lands are in pain, i say it simply now
the rivers are dry
the deserts, they fell thru the hour glass
the animals cry, the trees they all die
the cancer spreads quickly as the hours pass
i am nature
i am energy ive got the winds and the rain running thru me
constelations in my mind, soil beneath my feet
never will i allow this world to slap chains on me

everybody's got a name now lately i love it when you scream mine out baby for you id be willing to wait a thousand years or more
what a beautiful piece of human machinery the way she moves is so serene to me every single piece is such a sight to see, youve got to believe me
in a world so wrong she is so right
and when my eyes see darkness
she is my light
i waited so long for a girl like you
and now youre here in my arms its true
that were perfect for eachother,
we could build another world
just for us me and you
and nobody else
this attraction not many people have felt
yeah were lucky, all the others are crazed
but were insane

when i was a child things were different for me
i had a brain i had eyes i could truly see,
but now things have changed, now things are strange,
we had a gleam in our eyes, this world was free, now how could this be
when i was younger i looked to the sky when i had enough,
i held onto your charm as if i needed luck,
the time was mine to save
the time was yours to take
the time slipped my mind and made it away,
in perfection there are mistakes, the sound when a heart breaks
the taste on her lips, when i was gone the next day

im on the run again and ive got nowhere else to go,
and you know that every living soul, needs a place to call their home
so i robbed a bank and left 2 grown men dying in pools of blood,
in his last words 1 handed me a note and said could you give this to my love, he was a police officer who almost shot me apart, but i said yes, got a little kindness in my heart
i stuffed the letter deep down in my jacket, got other things on my mind
like how to escape this place before the firing line arrived,
so i ran out the front entrance took a left and then a right,
i didnt stop running till i knew i was out of sight
a month had passed i was living much better, and no i did not forget about the letter, tracked down the poor mans wife, local paper said there was a suicide, so i traveled to the grave, saw the man and his wife burried side by side, so i dug a little hole inbetween and put the rest of my cash inside

aint no use in talking
your way on down the road
aint no use in walking
the tops of every note
aint no use in answering a question you dont know
aint no use in bargaining for your petty soul
and i dont know why
how the days
slowly dwindle by, how the entire world
is swallowed in time
from dusk to dawn from day to night

keep your feet moving these chains arent too heavy
dont step out of line i know you feel empty
but thats just the price you pay for us to keep our riches
dont struggle while we stick the knife in and twist it
you live for us we got money on our side
your life is ours and money is time
a million in the streets aint worth a million in the banks
so just keep quiet and make it easy for us thanks
